syGlass v2.1.0 Release

At syGlass, we’re constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in virtual reality and scientific visualization. This week, that culminated in the release of syGlass v2.1.0, a major update with a focus on automated and manual volume segmentation routines.

Automated Segmentation, Powered by Deep Learning

With v2.1.0, we’re introducing the first in a series of powerful, built-in automatic segmentation tools:

  • syFind: Our in-house automatic segmentation tool for effortless cell detection in fluorescence microscopy images.

  • TotalSegmentator: An open-source model we’ve integrated for organ segmentation in CT images. For more information, visit the project website here.

Improved Manual Segmentation for Large Volumes

We’ve completely overhauled our manual volumetric segmentation system, giving you greater flexibility in working with large image datasets. You can now fine-tune the resolution levels for display and annotation, allowing for more precise segmentation in even the largest image volumes. Dive into the details with our series of updated segmentation tutorials.

Preview images for each newly placed keyframe allow quick validation during scene setup.

Key Frame Tool Upgrade

In syGlass v2.1.0, we’ve elevated our cinematic video creation tool, giving you greater control and precision for crafting professional-quality videos directly within VR. Now you can place key frames using the controller position instead of the head position, allowing for greater control in the scene setup process. Additionally, we’ve introduced a key frame preview feature, enabling you to review the last frame captured and catch any positioning issues early on. See the updated tutorial here.
